Hello & welcome!

We are so thankful that you want to find out more about our store! Our physical store is located in Friendswood, Texas, half way between Houston and Galveston. Perfect for a day trip on the way to see the island!

What started over 15 years ago as a yarn store that also carried a bit of fabric is now expanding into 3 stores in one! After 10 years in our first location, we built and moved into a much larger storefront. It was shortly before that when we came to the realization that the only people who knew we offered fabric were those customers who happened to also knit or crochet. We were at a decision making point: do we stop carrying fabric altogether, or, if not, how do we best let people know what we have? We needed to reach an audience outside of what our current marketing could offer since our store name only targeted yarn enthusiasts. We love fabric and all textiles, and knew we would have success with our fabric based on the feedback we had received over the years about our shop's selections and personality. We decided to grow our fabric business, and the idea for a DBA was the perfect solution! This way we could service our broader customer base in our new much larger facility, utilizing the same friendly staff and overhead costs.

For 15 years, nearly since the day the store first opened, we have had customers practically BEG us to carry needlepoint. It wasn't a craft I (Michelle, the owner) was familiar enough with at the time, and we simply did NOT have space in our previous 1600 sq ft location. After our move to our new facility, the store did begin carrying embroidery, cross-stitch, and needlepoint supplies, mostly in the form of beginner kits. As our selection of embroidery and cross-stitch patterns and supplies has grown, we also brought in a sampling of needlepoint threads. People have stumbled upon it and purchased many, many threads and needlepoint kits along the way. But now we face the same question again: how do we best let people know we are now going to be a needlepoint store as well?

Welcome to the world, The Poppy Point! We are working diligently to build our "opening" inventory and have received so many fun and gorgeous canvases already! We carry full lines of thread options, and we are adding more each day. We are looking forward to celebrating our Grand Reveal with the needlepoint world soon; Just as fast as we can receive our stock and get it ready for its debut! We are stocked with a couple full line thread options as well as stretcher bars and needles, but those are hard to come by with this current surge. (Thank you social media! It is a great problem to have for our crafting world!)
